We believe software is a tool like any other. It should help you get things done. It should be intuitive to use. It should adapt to your workflow, not force you to revamp it. It should be fast and reliable. And finally, good software should be used as little as possible.
You shouldn't spend a lot of time trying to figure out how it works. You shouldn't search the manual every time you want to use it. You open it, get what you need and that's it. You forget about it after. It requires as little attention as possible. After being configured once, it mostly runs on autopilot.
It isn't crammed with all the features under the sun. It has most things you need and nothing you don't. No shiny features that sound good on paper, but are rarely used. Good software doesn't make your head explode.
In a fast-paced world software should help you reduce mental clutter. It is affordable, gives you peace of mind and lets you enjoy more free time. It might even give you a reason to smile every now and then.

Apps that help with attendance tracking and PTO management are fundamental to any organization. Such apps should therefore be affordable, should fit into your existing workflow and require as little attention as possible. We believe none of the software currently on the market satisfies these criteria. This is why we set out to build a time tracking app that gets out of your way, works with your existing apps and is fairly priced.
We're building Functional to be as simple as possible and to be used as little as possible (yes, that's right). We believe that teams should focus on making their customers happy and spend the absolute minimum amount of time on tracking time. Functional has all that covered, while also providing valuable insights into teams' mood and energy levels, to prevent burnouts and maximize productivity.
It depends. If you're at a small or medium sized organization and you want the absolute essentials in terms of attendance tracking and leave management, with as little friction as possible, then Functional is probably a good fit for you. Even more so if you're also looking to improve team productivity based on detailed insights.
We plan on supporting Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Workplace at launch. If you're using a different chat app and want to try Functional, let us know and we'll add it to our roadmap.
